It's all in the Mockingjay brooch, the symbol of defiance and rebellion as worn by heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore). Rebellion's in the air but will Katniss who seems the worse for wear, sobs a bit and does miss Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) who's held prisoner by the nasty President Snow, (Donald Sutherland) the ruler of Panem lead from the front with bow and arrow and save Peeta and the nation? What's needed is a spin doctor, a propaganda guru extraordinaire. Step up Plutarch Heavensbee, (Philip Seymore Hoffman) the ultimate PR man. He'll look after Katniss but it's going to be a propaganda war. There's no physical fight to the finish, it's video screens at the ready as Coin and Snow go head-to-head. Will the patiently queuing teen fans be disappointed? It's all rather quiet and ordinary.
Stylishly produced and guaranteed to pull in it's legion of fans, 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' has its heroine but there's little action and overall it lacks punch. As you've guessed there's a lot of cash to be made so the third and final book of Suzanne Collin's 'Hunger Game' series is in two parts and the box office tills will do a double take.
