Helmer (Jeroen Willems), a farmer, cares for his elderly father (Henri Garcain) in the remote Dutch countryside. His working days are marked by the visits of the milk collector Johan (Wim Opbrouck), for whom Helmer holds a secret fascination. As he attempts to find happiness within himself, a series of encounters with adolescent farmhand Henk (Martijn Lakemeier) awakens desires he has tried hard to suppress.

Based on Gerbrands Bakker's international bestseller. 'The Twin', It's All So Quiet, is a poignant reflection on solitude and sexuality is characterised by an ambient beauty. Frank van den Eeden's hand held camera complimented by Paul M. van Brugge's score captures the sense of solitude and total isolation and the late Jeroen Willems offers a mesmerising and understated lead performance as Helmer.
