Superhero Logan's (Hugh Jackman) hit a bloody and brilliant bull's eye spectacular bow out finale that should delight fans.
Set in the future, America's not looking good and life's not easy for Logan who's a limo driver near El Paso, Texas. Age has crept up, the eyes could be better, the beard's tatty, his body aches and the booze calls. The Wolverine claws are still there but the ease of movement is a memory long past. Home's a water tower across the border in Mexico shared with 90-year-old Professor Charles Xavier, brilliantly played by Patrick Stewart who needs his meds to prevent brain seizures and albino mutant Caliban (a terrific Stephen Marchant). Mutants are dying out, there have been none for the past 25 years but when Logan meets 11-year-old Laura (Dafne Keen) and witnesses her remarkable powers, he sees in her a clone of himself and becomes her protector.
Mix in hints of Mad Max and the Wild West and it's a roller coaster, thrill-filled chase with the Reavers company Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) and Dr. Zander Rice (Richard E. Grant) on the hunt for Laura. Superbly shot, great score, thrill a minute action and even a hint of nostalgia with the classic western 'Shane' (1953) popping up and the Logan-Xavier dream team bow out in style. Great stuff.
