Released by 20th CENTURY FOX
19 year-old Eric Love (Jack O'Connell), a violent and troubled teenager criminal is hovering between a young offenders' institute and adult prison. The prison's unconventional therapist Oliver (Rupert Friend) is determined to help Eric find a way through with his anger management classes assisted by Eric's father, Neville (Ben Mendelsohn) one of the prison's longest serving inmates and at a loss as to what to do with his son.
Jack O'Connell carries it all - the tough man's fearless swagger, the self-made shank, fear, retribution, brief bursts of violence and an empty and destructive past.
It's gritty, violent, powerful and compelling with a great script, excellent camera work and Jack O'Connell plays it at full throttle.
A strong piece of UK film making, a great watch and 'Starred Up' could make Jack O'Connell a star.
