In 2010, eccentric millionaire art dealer Forrest Fenn buried $3 million worth of treasure somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, a cryptic poem the carrot to lure thousands to scour the Rockies on a treasure hunt. While thousands take up the challenge and attempt to tease out the clues, Forrest Fenn remains quietly amused.

As much a travelogue as anything else, the captivating beauty of New Mexico a backdrop to a number of hunters stories of their obsessive search for an elusive prize. We're told that some have been within a few hundred feet, but mysteriously it remains hidden. Is it real or a hoax?

Tomas Leach says “THE LURE is about storytelling. There are no objective facts, just hints, clues, stories and mystery. I always thought I’d know the film worked if when a couple were to go and see it, one half would come out dismissing the whole story as a hoax, and the other would be all set to go out searching for gold.”
