Morgan Matthews' documentary offers a fascinating insight into the world of Frank Williams, a single-minded man obsessed with the thrill of speed. It charts the struggles and high risk Formula One racing in the 60s and 70s and the tragic death in 1970 of Piers Courage in William's de Tomaso at the Dutch Grand Prix. The struggle to improve performance saw Patrick Head coming on board as Technical Director in 1977 which led to Alan Jones landing Williams their first World Driver's Championship in 1980.
The horrendous car accident in 1986 at the time of the rivalry between Nigel Mansell and Nelson Picquet changed everything. The devoted care by his wife Ginny who wrote a book about the effect Formula One had on their marriage and life saw Frank Williams emerge a quadriplegic but still in love with Williams Formula One.
With talking heads Sir Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Alan Jones, Sir Patrick Head, archive footage and a first hand behind the scenes account, an insight into a man obsessed, fixated on Formula One emerges as his daughter Claire takes over Williams and the rivalry it engendered with her older brother.
