Wilson's (Woody Harrrelson) a pain-in-the-arse, neurotic, moody, foul mouthed, people hating middle aged bore but he loves his fox terrier Pepper. When he tracks down ex-wife, ex-junkie Pippi (Laura Dern) she reveals that their baby of 17 years ago wasn't aborted, she was put her up for adoption. Wilson's thrown. He's a father. Is this a wake-up call? What's happening to Wilson? Is it a chance to fill the gap in his empty life? Wilson's on a mission. Find Claire (Isabella Amara) and tell her how things were. Make up. Be a happy family.
Adapted from Daniel Lowes' 2010 novel, Woody Harrelson gives it full throttle but he can't stop this could be funny movie from sinking fast. There's a great cast, but one-liners are for the most part so-so and when sentimentality's drawn in with matching score, it's a lost cause.
