Natasha's (Natalie Pavlenkova) a middle aged, put upon, procurement administrator at a zoo, the butt of workmates cruel jokes and to top it all she has an over bearing mother. Natasha's different from the rest - she's grown a tail. She's the woman in the community who the locals say is marked by the devil but when Natasha meets radiologist Peter (Dimitry Groshev) romance blossoms. Is this true love or is her celebrated tail the real source of his erotic attraction? There's no sympathy for Natasha even from the orthodox priest and Natalie's ultra religious mother has gone religious nuts painting red crosses over the walls of the house. Natalie's a woman alone.

Ivan I. Tverdovsky tongue-in-cheek, absurdist take on the realities of contemporary Russian society has stunning images and a superb performance from Natalie Pavlenkova as Natasha. Interpret as you wish. Differences are to be celebrated.
